Did the agent machine successfully connect to the console during the installation and list the available agent policies? When you supplied the console URI, did you use the machine name, or IP address? Are you able to successfully resolve the console machine from the agent machine via DNS (e.g. using nslookup)?
It may be best to contact support directly, as this may require analyzing some log files on the agent machine.
