Which version (including Build) of NetChk Protect are you using? What is the operating system version, edition, and service pack level of the target machine?
I have a XP VM and used NetChk 7.8 to Asset scan the machine successfully.
I then created a new power template to shut down the machine.
I successfully pushed a scheduled power management shutdown to the machine and it did successfully shut down at the scheduled time and remained off until I manually powered the machine up.
The scheduler will schedule tomorrows date by default, so please verify the date of the scheduled task was correct prior to performing the deployment of the task.
First of all - situation has resolved by itself after ca an hour. Shutdown means shutdown now, and restart is a restart. Please believe, I'm not the luser type and I know what I saw.
It's NetChk Protect 7.8.0 build 1340. I'm about to install Patch 1 now (today advertised itself). Target system is Win XPSP3 32bit (Professional)
One possible explanations is that another admin might have left a NetChk console open in another session. The other - server was pretty loaded today with another system.
I can also send/post SafeReboot.log files from the target machines if this can help evaluate issue.
And many thanks for prompt response.
One more thing - I was trying scheduling both with the date (and might have well missed the fact it's set tomorrow's date), and with "Run now" setting.
I installed Patch 1, some MS patches and rebooted the server. The load from the other system has dropped significantly after reboot btw.
However, the problem returned. I'm working remotely, so I can't see the test machine screen, but pinging it definitely shows it reboots. And I run a Power Task Template with "Shutdown" (if user is not logged in, otherwise wait for logoff) set for "Run now".
Please let me know what other info, logs etc. shall I provide. We can also schedule a remote demonstration with TeamViewer. I shall be available at ca 9 am GMT+1 (ie 10 hours from now).
Problem still here. Machines do reboot instead of shutdown. Please assist.
I'm attaching links to zip files containing Shavlik logs from two machines:
A workaround for this issue is to use the default settings and use the Power Action: "Shutdown" within the Power Management scan template.
We are currently looking into why the option to "Alert user, Perform action when user logs off" causes the machine to reboot and not Shutdown.
This is a known issue with our NetChk Protect. This is the workaround for this problem.
The customer can change the power template to force action after X minutes (what ever seems best for them) Set the countdown time to X minutes that is how long it will count down without extending
change the extend time-out to be 30 minutes or something and check cancel time-out perform action when the user logs out.
Sorry, doesn't work either. Performed action was reboot, not shutdown again. Basically if I change anything from default setting, I get reboot instead shutdown. And Power Action is set and displayed as Shut down.
Hello, any news regarding bugfix status?
ATM we still use the workaround (not the one mentioned by tim.krehl, but a "dummy" scan template that scans for nothing, deploys nothing particular and as post-deploymant runs shutdown.
Any news regarding bugfix? Was meant to be fixed with end of August...
