My experience with XP is that if FireFox is running when Flash is deployed, the existing Flash is clobbered and the new Flash is not installed. Flash for IE is at least usually ok. This time around, I used install at next reboot for Flash and I don't know of any failures. For some reason, NetChk has a software distribution option for IE Flash but not Flash for FireFox, so fixing requires hands-on the machine.
I said in windows 7, xp worked fine, and the flash upgrades for FF worked in the past without issue.
I've got it setup for install at next reboot for all software. I rebooted the computer and it still didn't work.
Based upon the description, it sounds as if the installation already occured, Internet Explorer was running, and the installation failed to complete successfully. In this case, it may be necessary to manually remove the current installation, then re-attempt to deploy. Manually running the patch on one of the machines in question may also provide further explanation as to the nature of the failure.
We use the original vendor patch in our deployments, but run the patch in silent mode. This means that the reason for a failing patch may not be apparent when attempting to deploy via NetChk Protect.
