The underlying shavlik engine sometimes leaves this task behind from a reboot we have performed.

      Hi Team,

after running the patching on windows servers (use default reboot parameter: reboot after installation) using BMC Bladelogic server automation tool.

      - Once patches are installed have a look to your 'scheduled task' panel :

      a "HF_BOOT_TASK_JOB (INSTALL_STATE_UPDATE)" task has been created.

Is there any resolution for the same.

      Regards,

      Abhishek Tundalwar

          Hello Abhishek,

Thank you for your post. Since you're using BMC, it's generally best for you to open a support case for anything related to our Ivanti Patch SDK engines.

As for this situation, this task is a post reboot task to update the patch install status. The packager creates a registry hive on the target machine the first time a deployment occurs, which is used to track the install state of patches deployed via the packager. All the task does is updates the key for the update from a status such as "pending reboot" to "installed", assuming there was an update that returned a code 3010.

This task will not reboot the system, or affect the functionality in any way. If the task is removed, it will be recreated during the next deployment, so removing it won't affect future deployments.

          Thank you,

          Anthony
