We recently moved a user to Windows 10 and want to know how to turn off Windows Update so your software can do the updating instead at a time that I specify. In Windows 7 and before, you could change the setting to Never, but I don't see a similar setting. Some articles mentioned turning off the Windows Update service. I found a local group policy that I could disable, but then the agent didn't find any updates but Windows could if I clicked check for updates.
What is the suggested setting to minimize prompts to the user and to enjoy the benefits of your software?
The best recommendation to avoid automatic updates for Windows including Windows 10 would be to disable Automatic updates through your GPO policy. The mentioned document below shows the recommended setting for this GPO change.
