    Protect Agent

When setting up agent policies we only have the option to use vendor over internet or a distribution server as a source for the patches.  Is there any way to use the Shavlik console as the source as we are currently maintaining a distribution server share just for the agent based clients.

          Hello,

Those are your options, but we can get close to what you want.  Create a Distribution Server (DS) on the Protect server, create it just like you would any other DS using UNC paths.  I would suggest using the folder you are using as you patch repository where patches are being downloaded to. (this location can be configured in Tools > Operations > Downloads in case you want to place them on a larger local drive. Point the Agent to this DS that resides on the Protect server.

          Thanks,

          Charles

How would this affect patch definition data as this isn't stored in default patch folder?  Would this still sync into folder using Distribution Server schedule?

              Hello,

Yes, you would setup the scheduled syncs like you would any other DS setup, the content data files would be synced to whatever folder you are using as the DS share.  The content data will be stored on you Protect server in the ProgramData area and also in the DS share, it shouldn't take up more than 100mb of space though.

              Thanks,

              Charles
