    Patch Domain Controller without Domain Admin?

    Rookie

      Hello,

      Is there any way to patch a windows server 2008 domain controller without requiring domain admin?  If so can you please explain how?

          My domain admin asked me that same question, and we are new to using Protect, so I would like to know this as well.

          Thanks for asking the question.

            Hi,

            Well the requirement to be able to scan/deploy to the system with Protect is just that it needs to be a local administrator, but I don't believe you can add only a local admin via the Windows GUI after promoting to DC.

            I did find by some searching online that you should be able to add a local admin via commandline with this command:

            (Make sure to run CMD as admin)

            net localgroup Administrators /add {domain}\{user}

            I haven't tested it, but hopefully that will help.
