Protect v9 connecting to SQL 2012 Cluster

    Rookie

Hi, we are migrating our existing Shavlik to a SQL 2012 cluster.  Our DBA's have asked the following questions:

I will be providing the name of the Availability Group Listener and the port used.

      o   IE:           P_SHAVLIK_AGL              PORT: 1439

      ·      Please inquire with Shavlik what the connection string should look like when connecting to an availability group listener

      o   IE:  P_SHAVLIK,1439;SHAVLIK

      Thoughts?

          Hello,

This is a little outside our support scope.  I am not 100% certain what you are asking.  But if you want to specify the name and port number of the cluster/availability group you absolutely can.   You would do this in the same way that they would do it from SQL Management Studio.

          "tcp: <DNS or IP>, <PortNumber>"

For instanec, I successfully performed a 9.0 from 8.0 database upgrade by using:  "tcp: 10.114.245.102, 1433" as the Server Name in our database configuration tool.

          Thanks,

          Charles
