I just tested to see if I could reproduce this, but I am able to remove/add the agent policy to the view on the left without any trouble. I've never seen this happen before, but I'd suggest to try closing Protect, then do a stop/restart on the VMware vCenter Protect console service, then open Protect and see if you're able to add the agent policies back into the view on the left.

Thanks for the heads up. Restarting the service had no effect but either applying the latest MS patches and/or rebooting fixed the issue.
