Ivanti’s Security Tool for Intel Active Management Technology (AMT) Removed from Content Feed

Version 3

    Purpose

This document is to discuss the removal of our security tool Intel Active Management Technology (AMT) (INTEL-SA-00075/QISA00075) from our content feed.

    Description

We have removed our security tool which disables Intel’s AMT capabilities associated with the vPro vulnerability.  This tool was provided as a stopgap response until Intel and other OEM vendors released a fix for this issue.  While successful for some endpoints, our security tool did not account for the large number of endpoints with custom configurations.  This resulted with many systems we could not address properly.  In addition, this solution only reduced the risk in some situations and did not fully protect the endpoints.  A firmware update to fix the issue is required to remove the vulnerability and is now available from Intel.
