Automatic Remote Registry Service disabling on Windows 8 and Server 2012 cause scans to fail. This document provides a workaround to prevent the Remote Registry Service from automatically stopping in Windows 8 and Server 2012.
In Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012, the Remote Registry Service by default is set to stop automatically if idle for more than 10 minutes. This will occur regardless of the service's "Startup type".
The only known workaround is to modify the DisableIdleStop value from 0 to 1 in the following registry key on the target machine(s).
Registry Key Location: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\RemoteRegistry
Registry Key: DisableIdleStop
Value Type: REG_DWORD, data : 1
No restart is required.
