How to Obtain Support for Windows Server 2003 Patches After July 14th, 2015

    The purpose of this document is to discuss the process for obtaining extended support for EOL Windows Server 2003 patch support in Shavlik Protect.


    Windows Server 2003 extended support ended on July 14, 2015. Microsoft will no longer issue security updates for any version of Windows Server 2003 without a premium support contract with Microsoft.  Moreover, Shavlik Protect will not be offering security updates for any version of Windows Server 2003 without a support contract with Shavlik.

    1. Obtain Premium Support from Microsoft.

    You can contact Microsoft sales or work with your Microsoft TAM to purchase Premium Support for your Server 2003 systems. You will need to give Microsoft a rough transition plan and a date or target for when you would be off of Server 2003, then negotiate a price with Microsoft.

    2. Obtain Support from Shavlik.

    Shavlik can provide extended support for Server 2003 patches Microsoft releases on a year to year basis.  If Microsoft releases 10 patches or 50 patches for Server 2003 we will cover them in the same service contract. You can contact your Shavlik territory manager or contact for more details on this service. The Shavlik content team will provide a private content feed for you and provide the same level of content research and testing as we did before the end of life of 2003 patches.

    3. Follow the steps in our official documentation to submit your custom patches and obtain patch definitions through Shavlik.
