Built-in Reports Show Different Results Than View > Machines.

    Purpose


    This document will explain the reason that our built-in reports can show a different number of patches or service packs missing than View > Machines and how to fix this discrepancy.


    Description


    The number of patches missing in a given report's results differs from the number of patches shown missing in View > Machines. For instance, in the example below, the Executive Summary report shows 143 patches missing while View > Machines shows 138 patches missing for the same machine.


     

     

    Cause

     

    Our built-in reports reflect the missing patches and missing service packs after the most recent scan for any given machine while the results in View > Machines reflect the current status of the machines. Therefore, if patches have been deployed to since the most recent scan, View > Machines will reflect the status of the machines after the deployment while our built in reports will still reflect the status of the machines after the most recent scan

     

    Resolution


    To fix the discrepancy between our built-in reports and View > Machines, re-scan the machines that you are obtaining reports for. After the new scan, our built-in reports will reflect the same results as View > Machines until the next deployment.
