This document explains how a Deployment Templates option 'Remove temp files' behaves between an Agent vs Agentlesss can/deployments.
After deploying patches Agentlessly, this option will then delete those patches that were just deployed.
Example: If you deploy a single patch (i.e. Windows6.1-KB2879017-x64.msu), after it has been deployed on the target machine, that single patch will be deleted from the target machine under the directory C:\Windows\ProPatches\Patches. Only the patches from that deployment will be removed, no other files will be deleted.
After Windows6.1-KB2879017-x64.msu has been deployed, and the template deleted the file.
After deploying patches Agentlessly, this option will then delete all files residing in the agent patch directory.
Example: If an Agent deploys a single patch (i.e. Windows6.1-KB2879017-x64.msu), after it has been deployed on the Agent machine, all files will be deleted from the Agent Patch Directory: C:\ProgramData\LANDesk\Shavlik Protect\Agent\Patch\PatchData.
Note: If the patch fails to deploy, no files are deleted.
Note: For Windows XP or Server 2003, Agent Patch Directory is located at: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\LANDESK\Shavlik Protect\Agent\Patch\Patch Data
Before Windows6.1-KB2879017-x64.msu has been deployed.
After Windows6.1-KB2879017-x64.msu has been deployed, the template deleted all files from directory.
This article only concerns Protect version 9.1, in Protect 9.2 patches are removed every 180 days after the patch was deployed.
Protect 9.2 does not longer removes the patches from \Propatches\Patches. When 'Remove temp files' option is checked, it only removes temporary files used during the deployment.
