Launch Interface - Error - a Network-Related or Instance-Specific Error Occurred While Establishing a Connection to SQL Server.

    Symptoms

     

    Launching protect gives an error indicating it cannot reach the SQL Database/Instance.

    [Main Instruction]
    The database connection could not be made. This may be caused by a temporary interruption in the database server, or the machine hosting the database could have been renamed.

     

    [Content]
    Unable to connect to SQL Server '(local)\SQLEXPRESS'.

     

    A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)

    Possible Cause


    The SQL Instance is not started.

    Resolution

     

    Start the SQL Instance.

    1. Press Windows Key + R to open a Run Box.
    2. Type in services.msc and press Ok.

    1. In the Serviceswindow, locate the SQL instance, right click, choose Start.
