Minimum ITScripts engine version required: 220.127.116.11
Modifies the target machine: Yes
Name: Disable Moziall Firefox Updates
Purpose: Disable automatic updates for Mozilla Firefox
Script Version: 18.104.22.168
Target Type: Any
This script will disable the auto update feature of Mozilla Firefox. While many vendors have their own update mechanisms IT Administrators need the ability to centrally manage updates in their environments. This typically leaves auto update notifications popping up on the users machine and often will cause confusion and sometimes issues within a customers environment.
The script begins by determing the OS of the target machine using WMI. Depending on the OS, specifically x64 vs x86 editions, the location of the registry hive for Firefox varies. Once the OS is determined the script continues with detection of Firefox on the machine. This is all done by directly accessing the registry path on the target machine. If present the script will access the mozilla.cfg file for Firefox directly on the file system and make the necessary modifications (""app.update.enabled"", false), and (""lockedPref"", e)
Possible OpsMon results include:
"Firefox updates successfully disabled"
"Firefox updates are already disabled"
"Firefox is not installed"
"Failed to update the Firefox configuration"
